Year  2014 – 2016

In 2014, the Municipality of Kőbánya District X of Budapest set the goal of reconstructing and modernizing the building of the General Practitioner's Office. The existing building was in a technically very outdated condition, it did not comply with the existing building structural and energy standards. By lowering the floor level the existing unfinished basement was converted into storage and mechanical rooms. Considering the existing conditions, new monolithic columns were placed in a designated grid space between the remaining monolithic basement bearing walls and the large TT slab panels above the basement, which form the supporting structure of the new ground floor, on which the new monolithic slab was placed.

The main function of the new ground-floor part of the building remains unchanged: one half for adult patients and the other half for sick and healthy children, with the same number of doctor’s office. The two short facades form the main entrances. The floor plan has been designed to be logical and transparent. An internal atrium (exterior) was created in the core of the building to allow natural light into the waiting rooms, and glass walls were used to provide transparency. The ceilings of the waiting areas were raised with a lightweight high roof and a single row of skylights. The facades were covered with anti-graffiti slabs of fibre cement. The cooling and heating of the building is provided by external air source heat pumps on the flat roof, which are used in the interior in the form of floor and ceiling diffusers. Together with the building, the surrounding area was also renovated.
